iOS 8 is out today and a lot has changed. App developers can now create extensions, which allows apps to talk to each other. Facebook is implementing its own extension, which allows you to quickly share to Facebook from within any app. Tapping the share button in any app now shows an option to share using Facebook.

In addition to extensions, Facebook is also getting more location sharing options. Previously, iOS only allowed you to decide to turn off or on location. In iOS 8, users now have the option to share location Always, While Using the App or Never.

Turning location sharing on Always allows Facebook to track your location at all times for its Nearby Friends feature. Those who want to broadcast their location to friends will want to enable this setting.

Most users will want to keep location sharing limited to While Using the App. This allows Facebook to check you into places as well as offer up close by things to do and see. This location information is shared with both Facebook Messenger and Instagram.

Those who don’t want to share any location data can select Never. You can go one step further and disable Location Services altogether in the settings.

Facebook promises to redesign its iOS 8 app “over the coming weeks” for the bigger screen sizes of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
