The Walking Dead is on the precipice of releasing a brand-new game, and it’s all taking place on Facebook. The project in question, Last Mile, is going to be in the format of a Massively Interactive Live Event, or MILE. This ambitious project is the fruit of an ongoing collaboration between Genvi and Skybound Entertainment. The game’s Prologue phase kicked off recently on July 11th, 2022.

‘It is the next big installment in The Walking Dead franchise where the story is driven by the fans.’ These are the words of Genvid’s Chief Executive Officer, Jacob Navok, in a recent statement about the new game. ‘You influence a constantly evolving coastal Alaskan community through an Instant Game with story content available daily and live interactive streams hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown and Felicia Day.’

The Walking Dead: Last Mile will take place over the next few months. Players will largely determine the path that the story will follow. What’s more, all Facebook users are able to create a character and join in on the fun. You’ll be able to take part in various interactive streams and minigames.

During these events, you’ll also gain Influence Points. It’s a sort of in-game currency that will ultimately decide how much influence you have. Each weak, the results of collective player decisions and choices will be revealed. It will aid in the progression of the story.

The Prologue phase is just that – a prologue of what’s to come. The game will officially kick off in full swing after the Prologue phase’s conclusion in August. Currently, Last Mile is scheduled to feature three chapters that will each run for one month. The game is set to wrap up in November and hopes to entertain players with ‘one of the most epic storylines within The Walking Dead universe.’

We’re excited to be contributing to what is bound to be one of the most exciting The Walking Dead experiences in the franchise’s history. In other Facebook news, Meta is claiming that its new AI represents a breakthrough in high-quality machine translation.

I hail from the awe-inspiring beauty of South Africa. Born and raised in Pretoria, I've always had a deep interest in local history, particularly conflicts, architecture, and our country's rich past of being a plaything for European aristocracy. 'Tis an attempt at humor. My interest in history has since translated into hours at a time researching everything from the many reasons the Titanic sank (really, it's a wonder she ever left Belfast) to why Minecraft is such a feat of human technological accomplishment. I am an avid video gamer (Sims 4 definitely counts as video gaming, I checked) and particularly enjoy playing the part of a relatively benign overlord in Minecraft. I enjoy the diverse experiences gaming offers the player. Within the space of a few hours, a player can go from having a career as an interior decorator in Sims, to training as an archer under Niruin in Skyrim. I believe video games have so much more to teach humanity about community, kindness, and loyalty, and I enjoy the opportunity to bring concepts of the like into literary pieces.
